Belema Abili, US-based Nigerian preacher, has called on political and religious leaders to embrace godliness and transformational leadership style as essential tools for national peace and prosperity.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the cleric made the call at a news conference on Thursday in Abuja to unveil the evangelical outreach initiatives of her ministry across Nigeria.

She urged Nigerian leaders at all strata of society to embrace the virtues of selflessness, fear of God, and a commitment to improving the wellbeing of the masses rather than personal gains.

According to the cleric, Nigeria needs spiritual and moral rebirth to overcome challenges of corruption, insecurity and poverty, and attain its rightful place among the comity of nations.

“I want to be free to walk around in my country like I used to before I moved to America, this insecurity is too much.

“Our leaders need to have the fear of God so they will do things to help the people, and not to enrich themselves.

“All these ritual killings, kidnappings are as a result of leaders who don’t fear God,” she said.

The passionate Gospel evangelist lamented that many political leaders in Nigeria were surrounded by sycophants, in form of political and religious advisors that stopped them from listening to godly counsels

She called for prayers for those in leadership positions at all levels.

“I also believe that those in positions of authority need to experience a true servant of God for them to go in the right direction.

“In the Bible, there was this governor called Felix, and there was this false prophet who was stopping him from making a godly decision. When a false prophet attaches himself to leaders they will make wrong decisions.

“But when a real servant of God is advising them, there will be changes. They will do things to help the people, and not to enrich themselves,” she said.

She added that Nigerians, irrespective of tribal and religious divides, needed to return to God in repentance and prayers to secure His intervention in the current security and economic challenges facing the nation.

According to her, “God said if my people who are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and turn from their sins, then I will forgive them and heal their land.

“Let me tell you, Nigeria can be healed, it doesn’t matter if they are Muslim or Christian, they all will serve and listen to God,” she said.

NAN reports that Abili, founder of Queen Belemzy Ministries-School of Power, is acclaimed for using social media platforms to bring the message of Salvation and transformation to her audience around the world, particularly the youth.(NAN)
