The Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi, on Saturday say the South-Eastern region will continue to be obedient to President Bola Tinubu due to the massive federal government projects in the region.

Umahi said this at Onueke in Ezza-South Local Government Area while leading an inspection tour on federal government projects in Ebonyi by the Renewed Hope National Media Tour team.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the major projects inspected include: dualisation of the Onueke highway and fly-over, Abakaliki-Afikpo-Ndibe Beach Trans-Sahara Highway,

On Onueke highway, Umahi said that the project was strategic to economic growth, describing it as one of the legacy project of President Tinubu to the south East.

“This road aimed at improving transportation and driving economic growth of the country,” the Minister said.

Also speaking, Mr Maxwell Okonkwo, the Acting Federal Controller of Works in Ebonyi, said the 90 meter Onueke flyover with 2.2 kilometers on the sides was to decongest traffic on the route.

He said the project would stimulate economic activity on the route as well as evacuation of agricultural produce and others.

“Ebonyi have a very big environment for agricultural produce, also other minerals, such as granites and lead, which are supposed to be transported out to other neighboring states.

“Yes, here in Onueke, we have a 90-meter flyover with 2.2 kilometers on the sides, it decongest traffic down here. The main aim of this project is to stimulate economic activities on this route,” he added.

Mr Ali Moses, resident of Abaomege Community, Onicha Local Government Area of the state hailed the federal government projects in the state, especially the Abakaliki-Apkooha-Afikpo highway.

“I thank God that the construction of the road is happening at my on time. It’s good thing to our people and the entire southeastern region,” Moses told NAN.(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
