A political advocacy group, The Collective Movement (TCM), has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure full transparency and impartiality in the conduct of the 2027 general election.

The group made the call on Wednesday in Abuja through its spokesman, Nasir Aminu, who briefed newsmen as preparation for the 2027 general election heats up.

Aminu said Nigerians must be assured of a process that reflects their will through the credible use of technology and strict adherence to electoral laws.

“INEC must guarantee a transparent, impartial, and technology-driven election process where every ballot counts.”

Aminu stressed the need for the effective deployment and functionality of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV), saying the devices must work without compromise.

According to him, security agencies must protect voters, and not intimidate them.

He also urged INEC to ensure electronic transmission of results from all polling units nationwide.

“We urge the National Assembly to pass a comprehensive Electoral Reform Bill mandating real-time electronic transmission of votes to strengthen the credibility of future elections.

“For Nigerians to trust the 2027 elections, INEC must put the country first and ensure that the will of the people prevails.”

Aminu said the call formed part of TCM’s broader commitment to promoting credible leadership, integrity, and accountability in Nigeria’s political system.

He explained that the movement, founded by Chief Franklin Ekechukwu and Comrade Otti Paul Obinna, had structures across the 36 states and the FCT, and was not affiliated with any political party.

The spokesperson noted that TCM had identified several credible aspirants across different political parties, adding that the group’s objective was to support leaders of proven competence and vision.

He said that after consultations and assessments of the political landscape, the movement discovered some credible aspirants from different political parties including the APC, PDP, LP and so on.

“We express support for former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and few other credible candidates we see as bridge-builders with experience in economic reform and governance, to contest the 2027 presidential election.

“Our broader mission is to restore public confidence in governance and promote citizen participation in the democratic process.

“Nations are not built by miracles, but by citizens who demand better,” Aminu said. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
