The Controller of Corrections, FCT Command, Christopher Jen, says inmates can be reformed and reintegrated if given the right support.

Jen said this in Abuja, when he received vocational materials donated by the Gbenga Omotoyinbo Foundation, a Non-Profit Organisation at the Command Headquarters in Gwagwalada.

Represented by the Deputy Controller of Corrections in charge of operations, Oguama Ambrose, he said that the public confidence in the correctional service made change achievable.

He urged inmates to match the efforts of the service and partner NGOs with hard work and discipline.

“With the belief that people have in the correctional system, change, reformation and integration is possible.

“I urge inmates to work hard in complementing the efforts of the service and partner NGOs,” he said.

He noted that the donated items were to support the existing vocational skill centres in custodial centres across the FCT.

He added that, the partnership with the foundation would strengthen its rehabilitation programmes and equip more inmates with practical skills for post-release reintegration.

The FCT controller of corrections appreciated the foundation for their support and assured them of judicious usage of the items.

Items donated include shoe, tailoring and bag making materials among others.
